What is it?..does it have something to do with how much RAM I can effectively add to my machine?

p.s. I have 256kb L2 Cache.

Welll Comp goes like this
It stores info in places...different places...
The firest place it stores stuff is the L1 Cache....
Thats where it looks first for it..usually really small...like 32k..also the fastest
the second place it would loook would be the L2 cache...Slower than L1, bigger, but faster than RAM. Most have 128k, 256k, or 512k of L2. The third place it would look is the on board cache(s) labeled L3..and is only found on some K6 family comps. After this THEN it looks in RAM....And then if its not there..the swap file.
In other words the L2 Cache is like the RAM before the RAM....umm yea
