I am frequently disappointed in $100 MBs that are less acccurate than $5 Watches.
Are any MBs better at keeping accurate time than the others ?

Two reasons: The oscillators used are neither precise nor stable over temperature ranges. Timekeeping in the _running_ PC is all software anyway.
