i got a cdrom with one of those ports for that little 'digital' wire thing. i was just wondering, if i use that wire, do i still need the other 'regular' audio cable running from my cdrom to my sound card? id find out for myself, but im too lazy to take my computer apart to find out /forum/smile.gif

Nope... just plug the digital cable on the digital input of the sound card and that's it !
A few months ago, I had 2 CD-roms plugged on my SBLive, one had the digital connector, the other had the "standard" connector.

But UR output to the speakers may still be analog, depending on the type of speaker connection--RCA, DIN or other. Cambridge TheatrWorks 5.1 is digital capable using SoundBlaster Live! sound card. I have the Diamond Monster Sound MX300 card and Cambridge FPS2000 speaker system but no digital sound-card-to-speaker arrangment.
BTW you need full digital connection to record data/music to mini-discs.
