New video card fan/heatsink.

I just bought a new fan/heatsink for my Geforce 4 ti 4600

The old one has two wires connecting to the board, and the new one has three.

What do I do?

Im sure there is an adapter for that floating around newegg or something...search it up...

Yea, I've been searching for it, but apparently can't find any info on it.

The old one has black and red, the new one has black, red and yellow.

What if I just take the black and red and connect it to the appropriate pin?

is there a 3 pin power connector on your
motherboard? if not, try an adapter up
to the 4 pin molex connectors that your
power supply uses like ShadeZeRo
suggested.

I have some 4 pin connectors lying around. If I connect the wires to the right pins, will it work? It looks like that's all it's doing in the picture.

your vid card cooler power cable should
attach directly to this as long as the connector matches- make 100% sure before ordering.

def. safer than having to monkey around
with cutting wires and all that.

If I buy the converter, the yellow wire connector will be left hanging. I'm thinking it's the speed sensor. Is it ok if it's not connecting to anything?

yeah- yellow is for monitoring fan speed
(in this case)

i'm wondering why it'll be loose.

doesn't the connector fit the squarish
3 pin female end?(which is attached to
the male 4 pin molex connector)

If you can find a review for it on Newegg or something, im sure if it was built for your card others might have had the same issue...

Check that out as well and see their solutions to that problem.

Where does the yellow thing connect to? Unless I misunderstood what you said and didn't understand the answer.

the yellow wire should be connected to the far right pin in the 4 pin connecter.
can't see what pin it's attached to in the
other clip. the wrong pin might either do
nothing or might damage something.

try it as a reg. 4 pin layout first and see if you can monitor that way. looks not too
bad tho... :t
