Man I'm shocked! I just browsed through some of the user profiles here and some of you guys are way over 1000 posts! I can't believe how patient some people are. Anyways it is good for the rest of us.

You would be even more shocked if you knew that the number of posts for some profiles has been wiped out and restarted a couple of times.

Does it really matter who has the most posts? It's the contribution of many independant and different ideas that make Sysopt worthwhile.

does it matter?
As long as it helps others, who cares?????

If you make 1,000,000 posts, and help none, it is less of a contribution than someone who makes 1 helpful post.

The "biggest" contributors IMO are the selfless people who come here and consistently give those of us less knowledgeable guidance and help. Not only are they the "biggest", but the Best! /forum/smile.gif

Killerbug, consider the wisdom in what you said.

Wisdom indeed. I've made my share of useless posts of gibberish, but I try to throw out one or two a day that attempts to help someone. Oddly enough though, I just noticed that I rarely ask questions. Its not that I do not need answers either. If anyone wants to give me their version of the best order to install NT Server 4.0, IIS 4.0, Exchange 5.5 and all the involved service packs, I'd listen. /forum/wink.gif

Of the recent posters, I think Bleeding Edge is one of the leaders. There are some others I'm sure, but they escape my fragile neural network at this time. All are appreciated. It takes a lot of people, no matter how often or much they post, to create a community like we have here. Good and 'Bad' posts included. It takes a little of everything.

Amen and Halalueah! (spelling) to what you said 800XL. There are WAY TO MANY people on this bbs to name just a few. IMHO the person who is able to help 1 person and that person helps another is the greatest, because it (the attitude of helping) fosters the friendship and knowledge for ALL who vist the bbs!

ps. I hope I did make sense. I have a hard time to put feelings into words. /forum/biggrin.gif

Along the line of what 800XL said. When you turn from a "Questioner" to an "Answerer", you've accomplished what the "Heart" of this BBS is all about.
I for one ,don't know near as much as a lot of the "Answerer's",but I'm comfortable handling the light to medium questions.Perhaps this takes the load off a lot of the "Heavy Weights" on this BBS.....DawgTuff.

I'm glad to see that my initial post has stirred up some debate. I very much agree that quality is the key, and quantity is not important. However my point is that I'm very grateful for the large quantity of time some "hard core members" put into helping us all.

Hey I don't know about anyone else, but I post dumbass comments to make my useful answers seem even better! Good is useless without Evil...

Quality over quantity.

Have a little fun every now and then.

One person can make a difference.

A wise person speaks few words yet says more than the person who speaks many words.

Look who's talking.

If you learned something new today, than today was worth the hassle. - Timothy R. Franklin, 1995

If you learned nothing today, did you teach someone something? If so, that makes the day worthwhile as well. - Timothy R. Franklin, September 1999

Enough said....

Who the heck is TR Franklin?

And why should I care?

800XL,
NT Server 4.0, SP3, IE4.X, NT Option pack (IIS4), Exch. 5.5, SP4, SP5

You could cut the SP4 install, but that is the way I do it. Don't forget to wave the dead chicken over the computer 3 times after Exch 5.5 install.

Hope that helps,
Dan

A lot of us are like 800XL, we ask few questions and answer many, and soon those asking questions become very helpfull to others.

Chadwick: Hrm. I was thinking this way, but I've yet to bite the reinstall bullet yet:
NT 4.0, NT SP5, IE 4.x, NT Option Pack, Exchange 5.5, Exchange SP2(this is where I really really need the chicken), and a final NT SP5 just to make sure. I suppose a quick look through NT4\postSP5\ and Exch55\postsp2\ could add to the fun. I never felt there was a need to apply Service packs in order as they are 'supposed' to roll all the fixes into the most current one. I do agree on the need for voodoo practices to be included. A little exorcism might not hurt.

Jokostel has it pretty much. Everyone makes this forum what it is. The staff of SysOpt play a huge part by providing the meeting place, but the crowd makes it a meeting.
