Network Card Problems

Have any of you computer Gurus come across this problem?
I have a 3COM Etherlink III network card (ISA) that I use for my LAN at home, occasionaly I get a message when I start windows saying that my network card 'failed to initialise' or some thing like that. I thought it was because I was o/c'ing, but I'm back at default speed now and I still get this apparatly random failure. I have tried 2 different cards. Any ideas?

Try going into your bios and specifying whichever IRQ your nic is using as reserved for ISA. The bios may be assigning it's IRQ to comething else causing problems.
