I accidentally changed the settings for some of the WinXP power options presets. Is there a way to reset them to the defaults (ie the settings you'd have from a fresh install) without reinstalling windows (or doing a repair install) ??

Thanks in advance,
scouselad.

Why not just change the settings to whatever you want:confused:

This is how my Dell 8200 Power Options are (I never changed them from day one):

Power Scheme ........... Home Office/Desk

Turn off Monitor: ....... Never

Turn off Hard Disks: ... Never

System Standby: ....... Never

Power Button: ........... Shutdown

Sleep Button: ........... Standby

Prompt for password on resume for standby is Checked

Hibernation is Not Checked

At present I have no software installed for my APC UPS unit

If I do install it and a power failure occurs when I am not by

the PC, APC Software will do a Safe Shutdown

As I said earlier, I believe these are the Defaults, but I am not

100% certain. This is how mine is set up.

Right-click the desktop>properties>Screensaver tab>Power button! All of the power options are there to be played with.
