I've got the same problem as Mike L. (see topic "No Post, No Beep, No Video), but this time with an Abit BX6 v2.02 motherboard.

History:
This is a replacement motherboard (or possibly the same, fixed and sent back? I forgot to record a serial number when I first sent it in) for a mobo that I ordered from BTI that was dead on arrival. I really tried hard to make that mobo work... I tested my CPU, RAM, power supply, and AGP video card in other computers, singly and all at once. They all worked fine.

I also tried the ISA video card from my current computer, and different RAM and CPU and PS with the first motherboard. I tried it in the case. I tried it out of the case, on a cardboard box. I was always grounded, and wore a wrist strap. Wires were properly connected as recommended in the manual. Not a single fan whirred, not a single light flickered, no beep beeped.

So, I sent the motherboard back, worrying that BTI would charge me the $60 diagnostic fee if nothing were actually wrong. Two weeks later, a replacement motherboard arrived, with no fee listed on the receipt (so I assume the mobo was truly dead).

Right away, I placed the new mobo on a box,
attached the CPU, RAM, video, power supply, and jumper wires (momentary power cable).
I turned on the PS and pushed the power on switch. Amazingly, the CPU and PS fans came to life and my power LED and drive lights were lit. But no video at all and no POST.

I tried everything that you suggested to Mike L., including checking the BIOS chip seating and resetting the BIOS by changing the CMOS jumper (I did that by turning off the power,
changing the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 and back to 1-2; is that correct?). Yes, the speaker is plugged in properly. I don't know if the speaker works, but at any rate, no beeps!
The mobo is sitting on cardboard and I'm about to try putting it on the anti-static bag instead. Tried to call BTI technical support but I get tired of forty minutes on hold just to leave a message on voice mail.

Could it be that my second motherboard is also a dud? Or am I the dud? I will note that BTI shipped the motherboard in an unsealed bag surrounded by styrofoam popcorn -- isn't that a big static risk?

Got to get my mobo, er mojo, back from Dr. Evil!

Thanks,
Jeana

Did you try the ISA vid card in the new mobo? Sometimes your prob will happen when an AGP card isn't seated all the way(common problem). If you have, you got another dead mobo(also a common problem).

Woooheeee!!!!

You guys are the best!!!
I am such an idiot!!!

I was so bent on failure this time that I didn't check the CPU... I gave it a couple of really good pushes and hey presto! It snapped right in. Beeps galore.

Thanks again for saving me hours, if not weeks, of frustration.
