well... this wireless card when installed on laptop does not work. Device manager says that all is well - no problems on its drivers, device working properly.
When i have it the wireless network Look for the network, it says something about consulting WZC? to see if I can get the network installed then. I tried setting up a new Network but this WZC thing keeps popping up & windows doesnt see my wireless network. SO, i go back to square 1 and use a direct line & uninstall the drivers for the wireless card. Oh btw, I've tried to do what the Dlink site asked & I'm waiting for a reply from them via email too.

 ANy ideas on what else i need to do? should i try a different wireless card? I hate seeing my $70 thrown away cause of this.

Vaio Laptop using WinXp Home w/ SP2. DLink DWL-g650 wireless card.

WZC is the wireless zero configuration wizard. it is trying to do the work for you. run the wizard and see if that gets you connected.

are you using wep or any other security on your access point?

yes, I have WEP enabled. this new 'wizard' didnt ask for any key of any sort BUT none of the networks around my house were found either (3 total including my own).

disable all security until you get connected. after that, you can apply your wep key, mac address filtering, etc.

also leave SSID broadcast ON for the router.

right on. now you can start adding security. leave SSID broadcast on, though. I've run into problems with XP after SSID broadcast is disabled. I thought SP2 would fix it, but it didn't.
