Ok,

just a quick one this time because mainly I cant be bothered to check reviews etc, a friend wants me to get a good mid range AGP graphics card for approx £100,

I have found in the ATI range

either a 9600XT ABIT (256MB)

or a 9800SE Sapphire (128MB)

Which one has the edge on speed reliability? Going in to a Athlon XP2500 system.

I will be open to Nvidia suggestions as well. Price limit is set to £100 though, please dont send me links to american sites in dollars.

Cheers

David

In that price range, go for the 9600XT, but don't pay over the odds for 256MB cards :t

Ebuyer 9600XT 256MB (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=77814)

That's what I mean about paying over the odds for 256MB cards ;) The 128MB models have identical performance, and are cheaper to boot.

you can try the 9800se to 9800pro soft mod, but you need to make sure you get a 256bit version of the card.

This link is just to give you an idea of what to look for:

The omega drivers have the softmod built in.
