When I boot my system up, I get one message that says, "scanning for option roms" and the next screen that I get says "NVRAM DATA INVALID, NVRAM CLEARED". Any suggestions? After that I have to hit "ESC" to boot the rest of the way up. The system seems to run fine besides that. It is a Pentium 150 with 24 meg ram, win 95. Thanks

First thing is check your autoexec.bat, sys.ini and win.ini files. If you're not familiar with these, click on Start, go to Run and type "sysedit" (without the quotes), click on OK. Look in each of the three files and see if you can find anything like:

Run=NVRAM
or
Load=NVRAM (or Option ROMS, etc.)

If you do, type REM at the beginning of each of those lines and follow it with a space like this:

REM Run=NVRAM
or
REM Load=NVRAM

Save the changes and reboot.

If that doesn't do it you'll be looking at modifying the registry - more on that if you post back the need for it.

tried what you told me but there was no reference to nvram or option roms in the files you had me look it. Must be something else. Any suggestions? Thanks

Have you tried rebooting the system again to see if that same message comes up again?

Let us know.

If you're not comfortable modifying the registry, better not try this ... if you are, then click on Start, select Run, type in "regedit" without quotes, and click on OK.

Then click on Edit, Find, and type in "Run" (no quotes) - make sure only Keys is checked - then click on Find Next.

Look for all run-entries for NVRAM, etc. (there may be more than one) by hitting the F3 key. If you find some, highlight the "name" entry in the right pane and hit delete.

After you've continued hitting F3 and made sure all entries have been deleted, close the registry and reboot.

No.. this is a BIOS msg.. saying that you have moved the jumpers on the board and cleared CMOS..

What to do is.. to recheck the jumpers.. so that it is not set to clear each time.. you turn on the system. then.. go into cmos.. and save the current configuration.. also you can clear nvram on newer system's by holding down ctrl+n.. during boot.. just something for ya to know.. works on most BIOS's.. and by floppy disk.. clrnvram.exe
