Hi when i try to put so extra edo ram in,16mb. my system will not boot in any mode, i get the message the ms dos is faulty the himen sys is missing and xms drivers not installed, plus alot of other things mostly they say the dos is faulty. if i take the edo out the system will work fine. just one point it was working fine with the extra memory in then suddenly went like this.
I would be very grateful for any ideas on this please.

First, please give a bit more information about your computer. What is it - 486, Pentium? What memory type does your manual recommend? What type of memory (FPM or EDO) did you have installed already? Are you running only MS-DOS? etc, etc

Sounds like to me a speed problem that is within your bios settings, sounds like your memory timings are too aggressive for that memory, could it possibly be fpm instead of edo? or whatever the case is, I"ve noticed this exact symptom when installing slower older memory mixed w/ edo, and then computer will no longer run at the fast memory timings...may have to slow them down to something like 70ns or whatever
