My system: K6-2:350, Asus P5A
Win 98
128 sdram

My i.s.p. Earthlink is running in background
and I'm working in MS Publisher; then suddenly this screen pops up. Strange thing is that I can hear the monitor make a noise as the blue screen's defaulted resolution takes over whatever I'm doing.

Now this doesn't happen often, but it's often enough. A cold boot usually brings me back with my Norton's Util recovering all kinds of "lost chains"
What in the world is going on?

Have you run the System Utilies program Optimize Wizard to optimize regisry and swap file, sounds like a swiss cheesed swap file. Speed disk is run, but the optimizer puts the swap file at the begining of your drive to help prevent lock-ups. Also try the Win Doctor with Norton's. You may have an invalid reg entry. Stop using win9x defrag once you use speed disk.

Hey philipg,
Thanks for the reply; I will surely take a look at the swap configuration. Earlier today I did clean my swap file out. It was more than 30% full; I probably should increase the size of it but I've never done that before. I'll try to see how to do this.
