Make a new shortcut on your desktop with the command line 'rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows', name it Shutdown - and see if it will work. Just double click it when you want to shutdown.

I recently added a Mitsumi ATAPI/EIDE CDRW to my system as a master on the second IDE controller on BH6 mobo. Ever since then, the Windows 95 shutdown command will not power off the machine, instead, it restarts it. This one is driving me crazy. Until I find a solution, is there any other way to effectively power off? Thanks for any reponse.

I tried the above with no results. The machine simply restarts. One more thing though, couple of days ago I turned off the Windows power management feature off in the Control Panel, Power icon. I did this so that the machine wouldn't go into power save mode when I was burning a CD. I don't know what I was thinking. I turned this feature on since then. Thanks for the response.

I solved this one. The cheap CD recording software that came with the Mitsumi CD-R drive was the culprit here. There was a driver being loaded in the system.ini that was causing it restart on shutdown. I uninstalled the complete software and the problem is gone. The software name is CeQuadrat WinOnCd 3.6 Mitsumi Edition.
Thanks for everyone's help.
