Umm well I just put a system together for the first time and Well I have a few questions.. I had better start off by telling you what the exact specs for my system are... Here they are:

Processor: Celeron 433mhz cpu w/ 128k in ppga package
Motherboard: BM6, 440 ZX Chip
Video Card: Diamond Multimedia Viper V770 Nvidia TNT2 32MB AGP
Ram: 128 MB SD100
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live PCI
Hard Disk: 10.2GB made by WD
CD Rom: Creative Labs 48x ide Internal
CDRW: Mitsumi 4802TE 8x Read 4x Write 2x Rewrite CD-RW
Speakers: Labtech LCS-2414
Case: ATX 250watt power supply
Keyboard: Logitech
Mouse: Mircrosoft Itellimouse

When I first boot the system it detects the processor at 300(66). So I changed it to 433(66) whats the 66 for? And then when I boot it gives an error message "CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck - CPU soft menu." What should I do? Then when I booted for the ezsoft diskette It said that the BIOS doesnt support hd's bigger than 8.4GB which is wrong. So it partitioned the HD for 8.4gb. Then I installed the CDROM drivers and it doesnt detect a CDROM. What should I do? Thanks for the help!

The 66 is the bus speed of the CPU. With the kind of money you spent on that system, I'm guessing the mobo supports 66Mhz-100Mhz bus speeds. If I were you I would get a BIOS update from the manufacturers website first, and then flash your BIOS.If you are installing Win98 on the machine then the BIOS partitions the HD as Win 98 can't read HD's that are larger than 8.4Gb. The BIOS does recognise it, but not Win98.
And leave your CPU at 300: if you have to set jumpers on the mobo to determine it's speed then it'll run at 433Mhz even if the BIOS doesn't recognise it.

I believe some one sold you the wrong CPU, Intel Celerons are Multiplier Locked, (the multiplier cannot be changed, it won't boot). The multiplier for a 300 Celeron is 4.5 (4.5 x 66.66...=300), the multiplier for the Intel Celeron 433 is 6.5 (6.5 x 66.66...=433). So if it boots at 300(66) this means the multiplier is 4.5, take the CPU back and get a 433.

The CPU that I have is a 433 I bought a boxed chipset. There are no Jumpers on my Motherboard. It is an Abit BM-6. So what should I do? And what do I do about the CDROM??

I got the BIOS to detect it at 433mhz so thats not the problem anymore.. I just updated it but I still cant get the cdrom to work

How do you have the CD ROM connected? Is it on the same cable as the hard drive? Check the jumpers on the CD ROM drive to make sure that you have them configured correctly, if it's on the same cable as the hard drive, the jumpers on the hard drive need to be set to: "master with slave present", and the jumpers on the CD need to be configured to "slave", If on the other hand you have the CD ROM on the other IDE channel (secondary IDE) you need to configure the jumpers on your hard drive to "master" on the primary IDE channel, and configure the jumpers on the CD ROM drive to "master" on the secondary IDE channel.

It's probably okay, some guys are running their overclocked systems 60c -70c, I think the temp specs are alot higher from intel. I have an o/c 300a to 450. When I first used Motherboard monitor and ran some games the default alarm setting in the program would give me a warning flag, my half-life games would be interrupted. All I did was redefine the default in the program to a higher warning. I'm currently running at 29c. Only because I took the case off and got a Walmart cheepo fan 12 inches and am directing it right at the side of the computer.
I was runing about 38C with an extra case fan and an extra fan right to the side of the cpu.

I have the Bh6 motherboard and the temp crystal is down below with the pci cards. I've heard that if your Vid card is right next to it you get some really high temp readings, while your cpu is just fine.

Sorry for all the rambling, usually just read all the advise.

BIG problems! The system keeps saying that it is overheating! I am not overclocking it. I have an extra fan but it keeps saying that the system is overheating. The chip its self is not over heating but the system is. I used HWD Doctor to check it out. Well please help me as soon as you guys can cause I want to use the system to try out some new games.

Just to throw this in..... Windows 98 does support harddrives over 8.4 on the same partition. I am currently using a IBM Deskstar 7200 10gig.
