hi
well today i read bla u can buy hl2 via steam

bronze version (hl2 and cs s) silver (hl2, cs s, dod s, hl1 s) and gold (extra stuff, tshirt or whatever)

OK . . . well i ordered hl2 at amazon.co.uk already

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009ATWC/pd_ka_0/026-1470478-2346848

when u buy hl2 in shops u get HL2 and cs source
but i also want hl1 source and day of defeat source and that doesnt come with the version

i only heard of HL2 SPECIAL EDITION which comes with a art book, tshirt and all that stuff so i think u get the things u wud get in the gold version but i dont want all that stuff!!! cost me too much

so is this correct then?! u only get hl2 and cs source in the "normal" version in the shops
is there then a way to get just dod source and hl1 source

edit:

ok just searched a bit in google
u can buy the "special edition" and u get hl1 source
ull only get day of defeat source if u buy the game via steam

i dont care about hl1 source actually but i want dod source but i wont buy this c r a p via steam, also ordered already at amazon.co.uk

If you download it off steam, you can burn the .gcf files and copy them to whatever computer you wish. Just as long as you log on to your steam account, i'll be find.

Its still up in the air, no official word on when its coming out, but if you were to have bought it on steam, you would have been able to play CS:S in just a few hours *i know i can't wait*

im not so sure, im a real cs freak, playing it since 1.1, every day like 3 hours . . .

i cant tell yet . . . i mean it has only been the beta but i didnt like it, yes graphics are great but the rest
it just doesnt feel like cs and they said it will! if u play cs alot u will know what i mean
my clan mates are sceptical too

some german cs sites had interveiws with some of the best german cs clan like mymtw, ocrana etc
these players said too they arent so sure yet and that they are very sceptical when it comes to css and if it ever takes over the original cs

downloading the game off steam is different than buying it in stores...you won't get a hard copy of the game, but that is the whole point of steam...check out www.steampowered.com if you want to find out more about it.

I've been playing CS since 1.3 pretty much, and while i loved 1.3 and 1.5 especially, I hate 1.6 w/a passion...but CS:S makes up for 1.6's mistake.

in a way steam is not that bad only for the 56Kers, allot of bugs at the start but they seemed to have fixed most of them, and no you don’t get the CD's but hey at least you don’t have to worry about your Dog chewing them up or them getting damaged.

Then just turn off auto updates for your steam games. It isn't that hard.

Is the silver package worth it? I bought halflife but never made it past the opening tram ride (I know, I know). I have a feeling if I went silver I would never touch HL1 Steam and DoD Steam ... and stick with CS:S.

The gold definately isn't worth it for me...don't want to pay $30 for hats, posters, and T-Shirts.

I really would prefer to have the box with CD/Manuals etc. I don't know If I like just having it downloaded...but may give it a shot.

How big are the downloads by the way? Im on my University's internet which is pretty quick, but there is a 250mb daily limit which is quite annoying. Its on a rolling 24hour clock so If I go over im bandwith limited to Dial Up-ish speeds.

Silver is the best bang for your buck. Even if you haven't completed HL1, you can try HL:source which is a port of HL1 to the source engine, looks like a neat thing to try. You'll get CS:S and HL2 when it comes out. I bought silver.

Total its a few gigs, like around 4. But you can burn it to a dvd and re-copy it just fine.

Keep in mind that steam will more than likely be running VERY slow for the next day or so.
