Unless you can swap out the BIOS chip, that might be an option worth considering. Sterling_Aug 10-07-2004, 10:31 AM Do a web search, you should easily find many businesses that will sell/reflash your BIOS for you. sm8000 10-07-2004, 01:31 PM www.badflash.com crusious31 10-08-2004, 02:00 AM Find the correct BIOS and see if you can use this guide on MSI's site to recover. http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/bios/note/boot.htm Your BIOs can be found here (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=24&kind=1) and note it is Award BIOs. G 10-09-2004, 11:28 AM Yeah just re-flash with the correct BIOS. You should have been more careful as to get it wrong can cause more hassle than the benefits of flashing in the first place. Obviously you will not see the BIOS posting but you can open the case and clear the BIOS using a BIOS jumper that may at least set it to FDD as first bootable device. Otherwise take the CMOS battery out for 10-30mins the replace. Make sure the machine is switched off and unplugged at the mains and you take antistatic precautions. Then hit the power button to get rid of any charged stored in the capacitors. Now you can flash a BIOS without the need of a screen but this needs autoexec.bat to be configure. I will have to look in to this. You may not need a new BIOS chip. Try these suggestions first before going that route. bisque78 10-09-2004, 08:33 PM Thanks for the info guys. I am about to go to MSI for a new chip,if that is an option. I was unable to figure the exact procedure for creating and excuting that autoexec.bat method. G 10-19-2004, 05:10 AM I do not get the email replies indicating that someone has replied to one of the threads I have contributed to. If you give me some time I may be able to work it out. G 10-19-2004, 11:23 AM I have searched most of the day for a simple way to do this but MSI’s help files, etc are poor. It looks as if the bios recovery method notes have been removed from their web site and all searches come with a “no results…” message. They are useless. If you can use the FDD then you will know what to do with the flash utility called AWFL822A.EXE You have this file called W6330VMS.360. This will be the BIOS update For example only at the A prompt type AWFL822A W6330VMS.360 /s (note changing the extension from .360 to .bin may help) AWFL822A W6330VMS.bin /s It must be something like that but I would get confirmation for the MSI forum and ask there. MSI BIOS is not the same as with Abit so I cannot be sure how MSI go about it. I did try but I think you need to get a new BIOS, like you have said, or go with Abit. Try it first, as you have nothing to lose. Someone with more experience with MSI BIOS help if you can. G G 10-20-2004, 01:52 PM The files should be put on a boot floppy (not the drdos). The drdos703.exe will make a pure Dos bootable floppy for you. I have set it up so it should work. NO GUARANTEES. You can go to this site for information on this type of flash .http://forums.windrivers.com/archive/index.php/t-63427. I did notice in the MSI "how to flash" doc they said does not use a floppy, but worth a try. The autoexec.bat file contents are as follows: @echo.off A:\AWFL822A.exe W6330VMS.bin /py/sn/cd/cp/cc/R If you get back to me, I will send the files over. SysOpt.com
