hello,

I've been doing some searching and based on my budget, it seemed the best i can get is the radeon 9600pro. (o/c to 9600xt levels?)
My question do you think 256mb be worth it over 128mb? i am an occasional games player.
anyone heard of Sapphire's radeon 9600pro ADVANTAGE? I've seen Atlantis and Ultimate but never came across the ADVANTAGE versions. Thoughts?

thanks!

there is very little performance difference between the 128 and 256 versions.

I'm looking into getting a 9600 Pro, and Newegg has some 256 megs for about $5 more, so in this case I would recommend picking up the 256 meg version. :t

for high setting on doom3 you need as much vram as possible. but for everyother game 128 MB is plenty. but if its only $5 then go for the 256.

That's the way I see it. For only $5 more, you can get better frame rates at high resolutions on games (although you would only run high resolutions on less demanding ones like UT2k4). None the less, in this instance I would recommend 256 megs. :t

Not really. With either RAM size, there are true "Pro" (w/ 300 MHz RAM) as well as "ProEZ" flavors that have slower (200 MHz) RAM but the same 400 MHz core speed.
