Videocard names...why do the have to be so complicated? It's hard to tell which one's better unless you look at their prices.
Case in point, the Geforce 4 ti 4600 is better than the Geforce 4 ti 4800?
How can you tell which one's better? Just by looking how many bits it has or how many MB of RAM it has?

Yeah, those names are pretty stupid. The Ti 4800 is just the AGP 8x version of the Ti 4600 IIRC. Generally the naming conventions give you a clue: eg the Radeon 9600 Pro isn't as good as the 9700 Pro, which in turn isn't as good as the 9800 Pro. Of course it gets a little blurry when you consider that the 9500 Pro outperforms the 9600 Pro by a small margin...

I find it best just to check up on some reviews to find out what the performance is like. Between the manufacturers and the third party companies throwing ridiculous names about, it's certainly far from cut and dried sometimes. My favourite trick is where some manufacturers decide to go against the reference specs and cut memory bandwidth in half. An occasion when they should give the card some kind of extra name, they don't, letting poor Joe Public pick up a crippled card

Things are named this way for a reason. Harcore users make up a very small part of the market. They need to fool the noobs into buying their crappy cards.
"Geee a 9600SE that must be worth $200 right? "
I am gonna buy a bunch of outdated cards and call them something like:
Funkmaster Super XL GT pro Flash-master SE XT 64 128 256 pimp-edition SL - Only $299
I will sell them at best-buy and make a fortune.
