My machine locks out when I use Roxio to transfer pictures onto disk or if Norton Anti-virus runs.

I have formatted and installed XP pro back on but the problem still exists.

I had tried the two programmes running in safe mode and still it locks out.

So I assume its a hardware rather than software problem???

I had tried swapping the 128m Nvidia graphics card with a 64m card on the AGP slot but the machine won't recognise the 64 card. The 128m card is recognised and runs in my sons OK.

Any ideas please.

I would scan the memory for errors.

Upgrade to a newer version of the programs.

Check all of the drivers installed (including hidden devices) in system device manager. Delete any extra drivers.

Check the processor heat temps.

I have had a look at hidden devices. But how do you know what is not needed?

Completed the memory test.

All passed.

We had several Dell computers freeze with Roxio 5 when buring audio (Actual Audio Format for CD Player) but not data. It turned out there was a bug in the drives firmware that made it crash when in Windows 2000 but not in XP.

Check your drive manufacturer for a FIRMWARE update for your CD ROM Drive itself. That may fix your problem since it can change how the hardware works.

Do other file type s burn OK? or have you only tried to burn images?

I have just been looking a website and it locked out. So I am beginning to think it may be Graphic card.
