Have you fdisked and formatted the hdd? xtremsabu 06-27-1999, 08:08 PM i did not do anything because i don't have it yet i just want refrence on how. Would i make a start up disk on my comp and then using it when i install that hd. xtremsabu 06-27-1999, 08:09 PM yes it will be full socalgal 06-27-1999, 09:34 PM Basically, this is how it's done. Assuming you have fdisked and formatted the target hard drive: Make sure you have the Serial Number and/or CD-Key Number handy, you will need to type them in later. Boot with the Win98 Startup Disk in the floppy drive, and the Win98 CD in the cd-rom drive. If it asks, type in 1 for cdrom support. At the DOS prompt type setup IF you are running the full version of Win98 floppy, Setup should start automatically. Then the real-mode version of scandisk will run. It initializes your system and copies the necessary files for installing Win98. Then Win98 setup begins. Just follow the instructions on the screen. That should be about it. You may want to take some notes over here to save your self trouble down the road. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000956.html [This message has been edited by socalgal (edited 06-27-99).] SysOpt.com
