I have built a new system & all seemed well at first.
Then lockups were noticed in a childs game ("Barbie's hair stylist" or the like). This required reboots.
I have since noticed that the same lockups can be caused in windows just by moving the mouse quite fast.
The devive manager does not show any conflicts.
SYSTEM.
WIN 98
PS2 mouse- (Plain Label)
Gigabyte 5AA MB (I think. something like 5AA anyway)
K6-2 400
8.4 M quantum HD
LS- 120 FD
16 M Banshee
Aopen 40 speed CD
Please help because if I don't get Barbie's hair working properly my life will not be worth living.
Thanks,
Krusty.

Two things~ Update your vid card driver. Lousy vid drivers can cause the mouse problem. You can verify this in Display properties by reducing the hardware acceleration level.
Second, the whole Barbie series of software titles is extremely buggy. You may need to reduce vid card performance to minimal standards to get this title to run correctly.
Hope that helps. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Oh yea, I almost forgot...That Barbie app changed your DirectX. Update DirectX and your probs will probably disappear.

MaaaadMaaaax....just what I was thinking - the video card driver.. But Barbie changing DirectX??... with Win98...naah, I don't think so..
ONE MORE THING..check that you DO NOT have any PCI card in the PCI slot next to the AGP port (your video card is AGP - correct? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ), this can cause the mouse crash, I can tell you from experience!!
-all the Barbie series is working perfectly at my house, Barbie Rapunzel, Barbie Riding Club, Barbie Detective... quiet-shhh! don't tell my 5-year-old there are any more titles out there...
My 5-year-old's computer (entirely hers):
AMD K6 233; Iwill P55XB2; 64MB EDO; ATI Expression 4MB; Opti82C931 sound, 1.2GB Champ; cheap speakers, cheap piano board. 14" SVGA...keyboard,mouse, joystick, etc..
not a bad start aehh?

CMonster~You're right about DirectX and W98. That prob occurs with W95. It's been awhile since I've troubleshot game type titles. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
