I found a AMD k7(athlon) by Cybermax and I had a few questions. Have any of you had bad experiences with Cybermax? Also how is their tech support and such.
The specs are
500mhz Athlon
Voodoo3 3000 w/ TV out
128 meg RAM
10.2gig Ultra ATA
Cybermax 19inch Monitor (18 viewable)
6x DVDROM
v.90 56k
Aureal Vortex2 PCI Sound Card w/A3D 2.0 Tech
Altec Lansing ACS45.1 Speakers + Sub
Corel Wordperfect Office 2k Standard
3 year Waranty
Canon Bubbleject BJC2000
for $1499
Does that sound like a good deal?, I thought so.

I can't say that I've had experience with Cybermax, but it sounds like a *****in' system at a great price. I know from experience that those speakers rock the &*%$!
Could I ask what motherboard the system uses? Also, what PS and CPU fan? If you aren't sure, make sure you find out. The Althon uses a whopping 45 watts of power, so you need to be using a AMD certified PS, or you'll have no end of problems. I'd also suggedt replacing whatever fan they give you with a VEK1X, or a VEK32 by GlobalWin.
Well I called, the sales person wasnt much help. They said a 500 watt ps, and a 245, with 2 fans ??, That dont sound right. They also said a Microstar M/B.

I haven't actually bought from them but a while back I called them and was totally unimpressed by the bait and switch tactics of the salemen. Do think they make a decent machine, but as far as service have no idea. One lady here bought a system from them at about the same time and never received part of her software package (or at least had not the last I knew).
My attitude has been skeptical, but those are terrific packages and they must do something correctly with AMD to get in ahead of the game on their new release CPUs.
Were I to order, I would ask for a supervisor in the sales department and get everything solidly on paper.

I have bought 2 systems from them. They both work really well. No major problems. They are quick to replace failing parts. They advertise that they pay shipping both ways for defective parts but I had to send something back to them. If you do in fact buy one of their systems, good for you but i sure hope you are your own tech support or know someone who is good at it because usual wait times are about 45-60 minutes to talk to tech support. Other than that, they build quality systems at a great price.

Just ask them how back logged they are on the athlon system. L0L its at least a month I think..
Well I ended up ordering today, the sales person was VERY helpful. I ended up changing to
13.1 gig ATA/66
3com 10/100 Card
It totaled about 1700 after rebate, $80 rebate on the printer, Kickass price if you ask me =)
And yes I'll get it about 3 1/2 weeks from now, thanks guys

Make sure they dont charge you till it ships, and also make sure that if it gets cheaper before it ships you get the cheaper price..
