Ok, here is the deal...I just upgraded to IE5, my ISP requested it. Anyway, I can only click back like once sometimes, and it is getting bad, I was on Ebay, I clicke dback from "bid confirmed", got to the confirmation screen, and could not evewn go back to the page for the item, and this is not the first time it has happened, it is happening all the time, how can I fix this thing?

1. format your drive
2. reinstall the OS
3. reload all your stuff

Seriously though, have you tweaked with many settings in IE? Perhaps a reinstall of it would not hurt. Does your ISP have you connecting to a proxy server? Sometimes proxy servers that are tweaked a little wrong or improperly setup can mess with the back function.

There is a Bug in IE5 that is causing this problem. As of this time Microsoft does not have fix for the problem. My back button problem went away problem after installing the vrml viewer, favorites security update. I informed Microsoft as to what happened and they said that they would get back to me. That was two weeks ago.

Already did format, I figured there was a problem, so I reformated. No help. **** microsoft, talk about not testing your product, not even seing if the back button works! Almost as bad as when the Windows 98 computer got the BSOD at a Microsoft demo.

Can anyone spell N-E-T-S-C-A-P-E ?

Maybe not perfect, but there are few posts about problems.

And I'm running with regedit.com (http://regedit.com) 's tweaks for better speed. Amazingly quick, subtle logon delays on one of three installed systems.

Ya, I have netscape. I have more problems with it than IE, every time I start it changes CFg files, deletes all my costome associations, connects to my ISP funny, not worth the headaches.

The back button problems seem to happen on pages with frames, scroll windows, or user input. Ebay would be user input (I dunno the formal term but yer typin in the boxes wit the blinky line). I also have these problems at pricewatch. I woulkd visit a amanufaturers page and then press back and...whats this
ITS GREYED OUT after just one or 2 clicks
Odd...yes...
Annoying...yes..
Can I put up with It?...yes...
Could be worse guys.
Ya know...Maybe IE could take little munchs of your HD whenever it felt like it...

Yeah..I see the beads of sweat forming on your forehead after i said that... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
