Ok, heres the problem. This motherboard has on board video (no problem there) and on board sound, a CMI8330 SoundPro. It worked for a while but a couple of day ago every time the PC boots, when entering Windows98 the system reports a "MSGSRV32.DLL caused a fatal error in module CM8330.DRV.
I did my homework on this and found that theres a couple of issues concerning this sound chip with Windows98. Proceeded to get the latest drivers from PCCHIPS and CMEDIA. The first is the MB maker and the second is the CMI8330 chip maker. Read the release notes and FAQ's from both. It seemed at first that it would be simple because the problem I was having was documented.
But after removing the defacto drivers and installing the latest driver, I found myself in square one. The problem persists.
Maybe I missed something or maybe theres a specific item I need to recheck in the BIOS or something.
Well any ideas welcomed. Specially if you have this same MB configuration.
