No video

I need some advice, I'm attempting to build a computer, first time. I recently purchased a barebones system with a AMD K-6II 350,Matsonic MS6260s mother board,128 PC100 sdram, WD 13gig caviar,Here is the problem the video card is a "old" Diamond stealth64.the system powers up ok but I can't get anything on the monitor. Sometimes the screen is green and another time it will be blue. I've switched PCI ports and still nothing. should I just give up on this card and purchase a newer card

How far has the boot process gone? Lights and fan turn on? HD whirs?

Recheck that your ram is seated all the way.

The system starts, lights,fan,and HD all start. Even when I unhook the new HD and hook up the old HD which has win 98 and still don't get no display onthe monitor.
