I use Connectix Virtual PC to (as it says on the tin) run several OS's from within Win XP. I was wonderin if one of the slave OS's was infected by a virus/trojan or whatever then could it jump to the host OS just like spreading from file to file on a single PC?
Just curious and not really problem as I run AV on all net connected PCs anyway.
Cheers :t

Yep. And it doesn't have to travel very far:x

Just to double up on what Steve said, any of those programs, like VMWare, or Virtual Machine can spread a virus from the Virtual machine to the actualy host because networking in enabled, and thus connects the 2. Also, since the virtual hard drive is a real slice on your hard drive, it could infect that way also.

Hmm, yeah thats true, I mean a virus isn't going to respect the boundaries in memory between one slave OS and the host.
