Just installed my new MOBO and CPU, mt word it's fast!
But, reinstalling everything. Now. Do I need to install SP 1 or should I just go straight for SP 2 (WIN XP)?

Have you installed your motherboard drivers first? If you have, go right to SP2, it includes all of SP1's stuff.

You can go right to SP2 it has all the SP1 updates included. Just DO NOT connect to the internet until you are complete with the SP2 updates else you open yourself up to MSBlaster and Sasser infecting the PC before you get it patched.

Good point. I haven't put Norton AV in yet so I'll do that now as I'll be downloading the SP from the 'net.

Should have thought of that. First NAV, next Office then the SP.
Right said Fred!

Hold on. Well wait it sounds like you might have yourself in a dilemma here. If you connect to the internet without any of the SP1 virus fixes in place you run a risk. If you install NAV then update from the net you're in the same boat. If you have SP1 on CD you could run that update to patch XP and keep yourself safer while you get SP2 downloaded. Myself I'd save Office for after all SP installs and NAV updates, then start putting your apps down.

Guess it's 6 of one or a half dozen of the other...flip a coin :t
