Remember the photo collage? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/001460.html

We know what you drive and how long. What you like to drink and the configuration of your systems. What you do for work and bits and parts of your personality. Your joys and some sorrows….

Well then, how about some photos to go along with this? Pictures of faces to place you by -a name with a face! /forum/smile.gif

Perhaps if SysOpt went ahead and made this page, with blank frames where a photo might be, the few mug shots of those who already sent in their photos would eventually be joined by others, and the ball will get rolling? No?

Maybe.

I have already sent Scott a mug shot of me! I would like to "see" some of the others that we "work/chat" with.

I prefer to remain anonymous & faceless.

That way I am judged not by my appearance, but by the content of my mind & the quality of my character.

Ok. i would be willing to send in one of my pictures.

It's gotta be simple to do this. Remember what kind of questions most people ask at these forums, me included. You shouldn't have to actually address the chip to send a photo in. Try to be more inclusive about the kind of files you will accept.

There are basically two ways I can do it:

1.) Create several pages (if need be) of pics, neatly arranged, with everyone's member name and occupation (if ok) next to the images.

or

2.) Create several big jumbled collage images (a single image generated by a compilation of the individual pictures) and don't identify the people in the image individually, except with a caption beneath that lists all those members in the picture, and a list of the occupations.

Your thoughts? I had originally planned on #2.

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.- All the details about this will be written up in an article, after I decide how to do it.. If you want to submit pictures now, they should be .jpg's or .gif's, any size (they will be resized). The article will state this, but by submitting images to me via email, you grant EarthWeb, Inc. the right to publish the image(s) on SysOpt.com at our discretion, and to resize / touch-up as needed.

Hiya,
I'm fairly new to this board but with my opinion (if you want it), Option 1 sounds good (either way will be fine). I'm willing to send a pic in (I'm the type who prefers to see who I'm talking to and/or getting an answer from)....

Welcome to the board, Lisa, and thanks for your feedback. Feel free to email me your picture - I've received several so far and I'm saving them up until I figure out exactly how to present them. If you don't have a digital version, I'll provide a snail mail address in the project info page.

Option 1 sounds good to me.

Here's a stupid question that'll probably get a stupid answer...
Do you care how recent of a photo?

Could you also repeat the email address to send these to? (I know, it's been stated several times and is probably something simple)

I sugest a communtiy page where the nickname, membership, occupation and country are listed in a row, which is hyperlinked to a profile. What you put in the profile is up to the community of course.

I'm for #2 unless #1 includes more that one photo on the same page. At www.hostclub.com (http://www.hostclub.com) the member photos are one to a page. There may be a reason that this is necessary, but it's kind of a nuisance.

I like Option #1. I can't wait to see socalgal. She's surely as lovely as she is caring and bright. /forum/smile.gif

Hey Scott, here's a radical question:
Is there any way of attaching the photo and info to the persons profile? That way, if some people want to remain anonymous, they don't have place thier photo on it.

About the two options...

I had envisioned something a bit different. More like a on going collage. A blank slate, with the photos arranged in a the typical haphazard collage fashion. The pictures being added as they come in. A live collage of sorts.

The picture can be linked to one page, with a list of all members, and the info that is available for that member, if any, or maybe a phrase they may be fond of. Clicking on the particular photo image would jump to the members stats on the link with the list.

I don't know if I explained this clearly, or for that matter, if it is even practicable.

How about making a collage, and superimpose a number one the people, then we could have a little contest for fun and laughs to try and match the pic with a name...

(or match if to a nerdy drink, or car, or first computer.. hahahah just kidding)

How about 2 pages, one would have the first option, and looks something like an employee of the month wall, the other could have a colage of people who wish to remane faceless.

mudoggy's idea sounds great... a photocollage with links to, say, the drinks/cars/quotes/etc. threads, and a list of the members who are on it. There could also be some pictures of people who don't want to have names attached. The trick is to guess the face that belongs to the voice.

It would be fun to look at and the guessing would be a blast! For instance, for all we know I could be a transvestite Lapp with a scalplock writing to a clone of beretted and goatee'd beatniks. Although I hope not.

Later on and gradually, we could have a more organized page or links to profiles.
