Hello Nathan!
Thanks for the initiative, I tried your suggestion but I am not yet succesful- there was no schedule task at all in my scheduler.

Can you suggest something else like directly checking some where in the registry etc.

I would bet that you probably checked the box to automatically connect on your IP. Its the box that comes up when you hit explorer and has a spot to save password and connect automatically.

You may need to set-up another dial-up connection and then dump your current one.

In the Control Panel - Internet options- 4th tab over for connections, click on set-up for the connection wizzard and re-set-up your IP connection with all the information.
When you get to the spot where you can save your password, you can check the box, but do not check the box under it to automatically connect. When you do, it will attempt to automatically connect to the internet whenever you bring up the explorer, and with. Win95 or 98 various other times.

In IE 4.0 there is a folder where you can de-check a box to remove the connect automatically, but I can't find the option in IE5.0 Good Luck.

Hi Bob-NB,

I followed directions given by you,

1. In Dial-up Networking screen I
unchecked connect automatically option but no positive result.

2. Then I created new dial-up connection without automatic connectin option checked later droped old connection but unfortunately still I am not successful in not getting dial-up screen during boot process.

Can u still suggest something to get success.

Do you have any programs in the Win 98 "Start up" on the programs menu that require an internet connection? If you do move this to another folder and reboot to see if this fixes it.

I think LJE2 has the only other option that I know of to check. From start-go to settings,- go to start menu-task bar,- from there go to the folder on the right which says start menu programs, click on the right tab for advanced. You will see all of the programs come up, if not, click on the + sign. Way down the list, you will see the start-up folder. As LJE2 suggests, if there are any programs in there which require the use of the internet, this would cause your problem. Goog Luck.

Had same problem and still do. I found that lotus was somehow dialing as I logged on and also Norton live Update.

I gave up trying to mess about with it and checked the connect to internet via LAN box in connection setting of IE4. This fools computer into think ing you're already connectd.

Good luck

Hi LEJ2/BOB-NB,

As per suggestion removed all the programs which were in start menu but still no luck for me, expecting more ideas.

With win98, if you go from the start menu to run then type in "msconfig" then go to the tab on the far right, which is "startup"...there are some things in there which are not in the other start-up folder.
You can de-check any of the items and they will not run on start-up. This is also handy for getting rid of those other icons (and their programs) in the bottom right of the taskbar. No other ideas.......
