Basically the problem is this, have a PII 400, a ProComp B680 MB, 256M PC100 Ram, Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32M video, a SB Awe 32 PnP and a Viking 56K V.90 modem. Everything works fine until I try to get on the internet, then my system just locks up. There is no way to recover except for just shutting down. I suspect the modem above all else since the same thing has happened with two different CPU/MB combos. Any thoughts?

Use the Add/Remove Progam utility in Control Panel and select EI5 and click the remove button. you will be given the choice to repair missing or corrupt EI5 files. Try that first.

Update your modem drivers if you haven't already. Along with the soundcard. Try reinstalling the vid drivers.

Use Diamond's latest build 4.02, if your using some other driver.

Check out Mcaffees web site if you have it installed they have a patch that lets both run at the same time.

Seems I had an old ISA SCSI card that was incompatible with everything, so out with the old and in with the new. Replaced the card with a new Adaptec PCI SCSI controller and things seem fine (fingers crossed on that one!) I'll see how it goes.

I would like to try the repair IE5 option, but I can't seem to find it listed under control panel - add/remove programs as mentioned in previous post. What am I doing wrong?
