WHAT KIND OF MOBO DO YOU HAVE? I have an AMD K6-2 350@392 (112x3.5) on an FIC 503+. I use (2) 16meg 60ns EDO RAM chips. Runs perfectly stable. I used Sandra to determine my memory transfer rate. The best memory performance for me is to put the memory in fast mode in the bios (as opposed to normal or turbo) and set the jumpers on the mobo for non-pc100 83MHz enhanced performance. Sandra was giving me 91 megs/sec and 95 megs/sec, respectively. Still, I was a little disappointed in those numbers, but that's the best I've been able to get without crashes or errors.
As for your last question, YES, moving to PC100 would definitely solve your problems, but if your cheap like me, make do with what you got. Also, make sure you have the latest bios for your mobo. AND, I assuming you have the 100MHz capable AMD K6-2 300, not the one designed for 66MHz operation. There were 2 you know, one of the reasons why I opted for the 350 so I wouldn't have to worry about that.
