Why is it that when I purchase a pack of CD-R's, an average of four CD's are rendered useless because the copy method (CeQuadrant WinOnCD) suddenly stops either 1/4 or 1/2 way through. I've got the Ricoh CD-RW internal, a Western Digital 18GB 7200rpm, and 256 megs of ram. Is it a problem with the disc itself, or is it the CD-RW drive? The first Ricoh drive I purchased did the same thing. Naturally, I thought something was defective with the drive, so I exchanged it for the same one. Is there a more stable way to burn CD's? I'm getting to the point of crossing my fingers and knocking on wood whenever I need to make a copy of something. Please respond.

This may sound bizzare but a friend of mine bought a cd r/w and it would only work properly with the whole drive upside down. He used the clips on the tray to hold it in place when the door closed. The one in my night school nly works correcly when its sideways.

Try some of these things I know there strange but it couldn't hurt anything.
