I mean I've only ever used analog and it looks good, can it really be even better?
And why does it only appear on the $800+ nVidia cards, while ATI has it standard?
edit-whoops, I lied! I guess I was thinking of the geforce 4, which when I was shopping for it none had the digital out.

i hope ur joking...
every latest video card has a digital output. Actually mostly nvidia has cards with 2 digital outputs (unlike ati). So i have no idea what are u talking about there
To answer your actual question: it depends on the LCD. If u use analog connector LCD needs to convert the analog signal to a digital one, so it all depends on the quality of the converter. With digital connector ur video card simply feeds the digital signal to the LCD.
Either way pure digital should look better, and def should allow for faster LCD response times. if u can go with digital (and yes u could get nvidia card with digital output)

Standard analogue connection:
Video card digital -> analogue -> LCD screen analogue -> digital
Thats 4 conversions before you get the picture on your screen.
Using DVI the signal remains digital the whole time. With my monitor, using the DVI means I don't have to do any adjustments of the screen, but with an analogue cable I do.
All the GeForce cards since the FX series have had DVI as well as the normal d-sub analogue connection.
Pretty much any Radeon made in the past 3 years has both as well.

not to bust your ball* but even my old
radeon 7500 has both dvi and s video out
as well as analog (obviously). and it was a pretty cheap card even new.
