Moved hd,dvd, cpu, ram & floppy from Sony microtower w/integrated sound & graphics to
new case w/Abit BH6.r2 Now will auto detect
hd & dvd then locks up. If I unplug either
the hd or the dvd it will enter set-up but
not if both are plugged in. Left all cards
out except voodoo3 which is new. I'm new to
this so I was wondering if the info on the
hd is conflicting with the new mobo. Should
I have deleted windows before the swap? Any
help is greatly appreciated.

By set-up, you mean BIOS? Which OS?

Make sure that your IDE devices are not pluged in backwards.. Red wire towards the power connector on ide devices..
And your MB manual should show you the correct position on your mb..Also check you master/slave settings make sure they are correct....

It should work the way you have it setup. You have the DVD jumpered as a slave and the hd jumpered as a master,Right? Try putting the hd on the primary controller, and the dvd on the secondary controller. Make sure in the bios(setup), you select "auto detect" for the drives. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

OS is win98. hd is ide1 as master, dvd is ide2 as master. Tried reversing order, no
difference. Checked cables, red stripe to pin1 ok on all. Yes on bios/setup, able to
access CMOS, soft menu,etc.

Seems like IDE1 is bad. HD will not work on
IDE1 but will on IDE2,same goes for DVD.
Able to boot up and enter win98 after setting
HD as Master,DVD as slave on IDE2. Now voodoo
3 AGP not listed in device manager. Win98
never asks for drivers, what gives?
