is there a way to keep your network connections open to other computers. i have 2 working with a shared network drive and when i open the drive it can take 10-20 seconds or freeze while it is trying to connect, i am running sygate firewall pro on both computers and i am just wondering if there is a way to keep the connection open or its just my firewall holding them up. they are connected through my unknown router :)

In Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View

The very first Option if enabled might help.

lets see. you have a firewall and network connectivity is hanging. You want to know if your firewall is the problem. Seems logical the next thing to do is disable your firewall and try it. Perhaps you have however it was not mentioned.
