My friend has an ECS K7VTA3 version 2.0 motherboard and he's been unable to find out what the fastest processor he can add into it. Right now he's got an AMD 1700+ and would like to go up to 2400 but is unsure that, the chip will actually run on the motherboard.

He gave a call to the tech support line but was unable to obtain anything useful.

Thanks for any hep! :t

Looks like it'll take any 266 fsb athlon processor. A 2400+ should work.

Thanks for the info!

Hah unfortunantly I just got a call from my friend. I just sold him a piece of pc2100 ram. He brought it home plugged it in and for one reason or another it fried his motherboard:(

Its an ecs mobo, its friggin fried. If i were your friend, i would toss the ECS board and go with a Abit board, they have some really good bottom of the line boards that shouldnt have any problems running his stuff. Get the KT600 board, it will run all the XP procs and 400FSB ram, plus it has raid and built on lan. And what makes it great, its cheap.
