I don't think it really matters. It is going to be Windows and programs that run on Windows so the only problem you might have is that it might not work. If you're planning on using it on your HP computer, just try it. Nothing bad is going to happen I guess.

That number may not help. It does not seem to be in the proper format for an HP. Most CD's part numbers start CDX or CDA.
If you have that number, you can go to HP's Part Surfer and see if you can find the Model of the PC.
Just like nothing said, the CD may not work. I had a restore cd set for an hp that had windows 2000. I tried to use them to install 2000 on my mom's hp and get rid of ME. The CD would not install because it checked the HP Model from the BIOS. My Moms HP was nto the same as the model that came with 2000. Now i have a 2000 COA and an HP restore CD that will not do anything.

Yea, Ive tryed the CDs on 3 hp pavillions.. both refuse,
I ooked up as to why, apperenly there is a number in one of the chips on the motherboard that correpond to the number on the cd
I looked for the CDX or CDA but there are nothin like that. The number are listed for sys recovery and Application rovery.
any one else got ideas?

HP doesn' t list restore cd parts by the cd number. it is listed by a cd "set".
each set is model specific. if it isn't the right model and/or you didn't run the bios tattoo utility, it's basically useless.
