I am working on a pc over a AOLIM link.
We ran fdisk and deleted the 1st partition which was a non-dos part. and the second one was the pri.
Made the whole thing one drive since the last config win98 doesn't like it when the pri.part. is not the 1st part. We formated the drive with the /s switch no problems so far.
When the user finally got win98 installed. The system on boot-up comes back with invalid comand interpreter- Where is it? The command.com is in the c:\ and windows directory both don't seem to work.

But heres the kicker the floppy drive boots fine even sys c: the HD from the floppy same thing. Everything is version win98. I can't understand why its doing this. Is this a bad boot sector drive or maybe a virus but the floppy is clean of virus's.

I had the same problem! After cursing a bit I ran fdisk and found as you did that there was a primary and non dos partition. I deleted both partitions, created new one and formated without the /s. Just plain old format c:/. This worked until the ez bios disaster as mentioned in my last post. Good luck

Thanks fishboy I was just thinking of that when I read your post whatif its ez-F***ing bios.

Sorry for my verbal outburst everyone can't help it been working on this PC off and on for almost a year. Started when he installed a CDR/w and win95 crashed and the system never ran again.

I almost jumpped in my car and drove down there last night to chuck his PC out the window and tell him buy another one, but I'm patient. I have to be working on an IT Help Desk with all those DFU's (you fill in the spaces)in my company who don't know a keyboard from a mouse. LOL.........

By the way he lives in NC I live in CT, USA.
