I have a laptop pc that will not let a hp340 printer be installed correctly. Every time I
go to print it says that the print driver is not insalled correctly.
Now I have unistalled the printer.
And reinstalled it.
And got the latest driver and installed it.
I have even gone so far as to look in the registry and try and find all the hp type programs/drivers that I could find delete them and reinstall the pinter.
Is there something that I missed before I try and re-install windows?
I have win95a And before I go and do all this reinstalling I will go look for updates for it. Is there one in particular I should get?
Thanks,
BC

Did you reboot your system after deleting all of your components?

Just a suggestion. Fiddle around with the printer types such as EPP, PPP, etc. Also check to make sure lpt port is enabled in windows control panel as well as bios.

check in your bios.. for parallel port settings so you can change it to bi-directional

ok I will try. Thought of that but I had plugged in another printer and it worked fine. Just now realized that it is a uni- printer.

nope no change. I am now getting a different error after it says that there is a driver error. Spool32 caused a gpf in fx-comm.drv.
you know what fx-comm.drv is? is it a driver for an epson fx-80+ by chance?

Sounds good you got windows to see it. Now you may have to do a re-install to make windows set-up the buffer tables for the spooler correctly.

ECP is not the bi-directional setting you want change it to EPP.

I have had it working on this computer before.

It should be bi-directional and as for fx-comm.drv try just renaming that file.. then do a print..
