I just put an 8.4GB drive in a friend's system that's running Windows 95A(upgrade). I copied his system to a FAT16 2.1GB primary partition on the 8.4GB drive. Everything is working fine. The bios is new enough to recognize it as an 8.4 GB drive.
Now, when I use FDISK to create three other 2.1 GB extended DOS partitions, it creates them but FDISK says the file system of the new partitions is UNKNOWN. Windows 95A will then list the logical drive but will not allow me to access it. I answered "N" when prompted for Large Hard Drive Support. I want to keep this all FAT16 for him with four 2.1 GB partitions and four logical drives. Can't I do this with FAT16 and Win95A? Or, is it that it's been so long since I've dealt with this that I've forgotten some limitations here?
Your help GREATLY appreciated!

I think I understand what you are trying to do FAT 16 will work on any size drive with 95A. 95B or higher is fat 16/32 either/or.

The only limitation on fat 16 that I know off is the 2.1GB limit which means you need 95b or higher to use the whole drive as one.

Correct me if I'm wrong everyone.

In order for the unknown to disappear you must format the drives.

The command.com from Win95 and Win98 is different, from what operation system did you make this boot disk?
