What kind of range can I expect to get out of a wireless laptop card? Right now I think my D-Link DI-624 Router probably puts out a further range signal than I can pick up with my D-Link. DWL-650+ laptop card

The 650 is only 802.11b where the router (624) is b and g.

Are there any laptop cards where you can attach an antenna? Would getting a 802.11g compatable card increase my range?

Using a .11g card won't increase your range over a .11b card. Not as a technology anyway. The card you buy might have better range but it won't be because it's .11g. It's be because the radios are better and/or it has more juice running to the radiator, the antenna.

As far as what kind of range you can expect.......the range your getting. Crass perhaps but that's the long/short of it. All wireless environments are different. Mine with the exact same card, may have much better or worse coverage than you because our surrounding are different. You can get a generalization about individual cards here, or any other BBS as far as that goes, but you won't get a legitimate number as to what you can expect. You may get some advice but if someone tells you "you'll get xxx amount of feet or through x amount of rooms with x card", well, I wouldn't put too much stock in that advice. It would be spoken out of ignorance.

Yes, there are cards with connectors that you could attach a pigtail and aftermarket antennas to. Most are MMCX connectors.
