I'm working on a gateway computer: 486dx-50v. The user formated the harddrives which it only has 2- 405mbs each. The computer worked fine except it had 3.1 on it and he wanted win95. When I first turned the computer on it wouldn't read the floppy drive and was giving me an invalid boot... whatever. Now after reseating all cards it boots to the floppy driver.
It has a CDROM which worked great before the format. I reinstalled all dos drivers, the ones that came with the computer, (IE.: CDrom, sound card, video) useing my win95 emergency boot disk.
Now here's my problem. The drivers see the sound card but not the cdrom which is plugged into the sound card. Now it worked with this config with 3.1 but why not now, could it be the version of DOS I'm using. I don't have a newer dos except for the dos that came with the PC which I really didn't want to install with win95.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
