I recently read a favorable review in PC mag re: WMP10,and the reviewer gave it 4 1/2 stars, and was impressed on the recent improvements. You can read it here (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1641331,00.asp)

The final version of Windows Media® Player 10 was available for download on September 6th , and am requesting any feedback about it.

Also,WMP10 only supports the Windows XP platform. Therefore you will need either Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition before you can install WMP10

Check out this article here (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2004/sep04/09-02WMP10LaunchPR.asp) for more info.

It is downloading now as I type this message, and I have an extra machine to test it out on.

Read a recent post from Strawbs titled XP Pro - 5 minute boot time solved!
and in it he stated that he installed it, then immediately uninstalled it.

I am currently using WMP9 which I am happy with.

I'm currently using WMP 10, and haven't had any problems. To be honest though, it adds very little functionality (that I use anyway) and I don't like the washed-out look of the little media toolbar. I'll probably go back to 9 :t

Installed it last night. No problems so far. My 4-year old is pretty impressed with the visual effects, but there's nothing in it that really warrants an upgrade from 9, in my opinion.
