I just upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP pro and went to install all my EA Games again on XP and found every EA game that I installed won't run any more because when it asks for CD disk two it say's "CD NOT FOUND"
Every other non EB game works just fine - Does anyone know of a bug between EB Games and Windows XP Pro and any fixes to the problem?
Thanks for any help you can give me !
Scott

What Cd-Drive are you installing from? cd-rw drive dvd-rw drive or just a plain CD-Rom drive.
some times for users that have CD copy Drive or drive imaging tools installed enconter this Problem. The problem with the new protection scheme is that it apparently scans the user's hard drive for imaging tools and XP has got this.

this was posted by someone else in a diffrent forum, so im not sure if this will help your problem it may or maynot.
Hey, I just found a solution to the CD not found error when starting My gamess - I was running out from a normal DVD-ROM drive, and didn't have any virtual imaging software. I went to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->IDE controller properties->Primary or Secondary channel, depending on where your optical drive is installed, and the drive access mode was "Multi Word DMA 2". I just changed it to "Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33" and the game detected the CD! Not sure if this is a general solution or not, but hope it helps at least some people. It was driving me crazy not being able to play!

doesn't sound like he's using any virtual drive software, etc. - what kind of drive is it and when you went from w2k to XP pro did you check all your drivers for the mobo, IDE, etc. to see what installed?
EA games are sometimes monsters in terms of which video card you're using, etc, installed RAM but that wouldn't cause the cd drive problem - the problem may also be it's using xp's drivers (check properties in hardware manager and see what's there) instead of updated chipset and IDE drivers you'd probably need for the system, have you been to the website for the mobo manufacturer?

check the manufacturers web site for your optical drive. See if there is any firmware update.

You said, you run a cd-r drive. a cd-rw drive is an optical drive, because it uses a laser. every drive, that uses a laser is an optiocal drive. so all cd/dvd droives are optical drives.
Maybe you should search for a nocd-crack. there are nocd-cracks available for nearly every game and it is not illegal if you own an original cd of the game.
edit: I wouldnt use a cd-rw drive as main cd drive. they fail very soon if you use them too often for reading. in most cases they fail after about 1 1/5 years (the warrantee is only 1 year for optical drives normally).

Would it make any difference if I take out the CD-RW drive and put in just an plain old CD-ROM drive and uninstall Nero ?
What do you think ?

I would install the old cd-rom drive in addition to the cd-r drive and use the cd-r drive just for burning and the cd-rom drive just for reading. you can also leave nero installed. but make sure, that the cd-rom drive is at least 32x.
if you put both drives on different ide channels, you can burn your cds much faster when using the on-the-fly-mode than when using an image on the hdd.

Well after trying everything all of you great people suggusted to me in this tread nothing worked except the cd-cracks for each game - They worked and at least I can play the games now.
I don't understand how EA-GAMES can release software games that have a bug that is as bad as this l on Windows XP PRO and then don't even have a fix for the problem or a phone number to call for tech support.
Guess I have to buy more UBI Soft games than EA-games !
I just would like to say thanks for everyone that helped me with this problem ! :t
Scott
I've had the same problem.
I did what I could to not have to uninstall CD Burning Software.
But if you are having the problem even after you stop all running processes that are tied to the burning software, uninstall them (all of them) and you'll usually find the game works.
Nero
Elby CD Copy
Elby DVD Copy
Alchohol 120%
etc....
Problem with CD Cracks is bits are parts of your game might not work, and may be glitchy.
Like in the Sims 2 :D for example
The CD Crack made it so you could'nt build anything.

I have tried just about everything that I can think of including bios update - DMA Setting ect, nothing has worked so far with Windows XP Pro - What a bug and EA Games does not even say there is a problem or have a phone number to call for tech support !
Scott :(
Try this
SafeDisk Patch (http://eagames.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/eagames.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=15775&p_created=1095270252&p_prod_lvl1=&p_sid=ZAxbzKlh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9ncmlkc29yd D0mcF9yb3dfY250PTUmcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1zZWFyY2hfbmw mcF9wcm9kX2x2bDE9NDc0JnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9JnBfY2F0X2x2b DI9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9ZHZk&p_li)
I know it's for the Sims 2, but I have a feeling it applies to more than one game.
It wouldn't hurt to try.

The only game which I know, where not everything works w/ the nocd crack is doom 3, where the multiplayer mode doesnt work when you use a nocd crack.
i dont understand, what these game publishers think. you have a right to get the money for your game back, when it doesnt work when you have another software installed. and i dont think, that anyone doesnt burn a game, just because the game doesnt work, when he has burning software is installed.
