I have a situation in which it would be nice to present a web page with arbitrary text presented in what, for lack of a better term, I'll call "comic book" form.

You've all seen the multi-colored huge lettered "BAM" or "POW" or "EEK" examples with starlike multicolored "rays" coming out of them in comic books or on the old Batman TV series.

Does something to make these images into a jpg, a gif, or whatever exist? There's no movement intended, so I certainly don't want to use Flash (which I don't even permit on my own machine.)

Advice solicited.

Yes, the software your looking for is either Photoshop 7 or Fireworks from macromedia

Photoshop has "custom" shapes which take the form of speech bubbles of different shapes and sizes. This is what u meant i believe?

The stars and rays are just as easy to do with photoshop and can be saved in a number of different formats.
