Hallo, I have a Gigabyte GA686-LX mainboard. with a 266 PII. Now I want t oupgrade it with a celeron about 400 or 433 Mhz. Can I do that without problems. I have the newest BIOS. But does everyone know, if my board supports 2.0 Volts? And it it supports the high Mhz speed. In the documentation is writen ,that the board supports up too 633 Mhz, But there are only Jumpersettings up too 333 Mhz. At the GB website there an no document about my questions!!.
Plese help ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Take a look at the board itself for your answers. Most Gigabytes (and other boards for that matter) should have all of the jumper settings written right on the board. Through this you should be able to determine what the maximum speed is attainable. My guess, however, is it won't support a Celeron 400 or above. Unless the board has soft jumpers, you most likely won't be able to reach the 6X multplier needed to run a 400a. I think the highest the multipliers were running at the time of the LX chipset was still 5.5X
