Too bad there isn't an American version. But then again there probably isn't a market for it. :(

probably there isnt a market for it in the USA and europe, because noone wants the old psx anymore since the ps2 is out. and a psx w/ a 250GB HDD is still a psx.

but the original playstation was also called psx, before the new psx came out. so this naming is a little confusing.

I could be wrong here, but... I don't think sony ever officially marketed the playstation as PSX... I don't know how the name PSX actually caught on. This particular piece of hardware is actually named PSX.

maybe sony never makrketed the playstation as psx, but it was called psx by everyone and also game magazines and shops often used psx for playstation games.

It was called the PSX because there were so many different modles of the Playstation due to heating problems etc. So the X stood for the modle number. That is what I learned at Gamestop anyway. Now I've heard of this other PSX!!!!! ITs like a souped up PS2.

from the link

The two PSX models of DESR-5000 and DESR-7000 are equipped with maximum capacity HDD respectively to accommodate various features in serving as a digital home electronics product as well as a game device for enjoying PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games

MrBurns, I don't know where you got that info, but seems like you need to get some new sources.
