I hear ya Yoshi. The egg has them for about $230-235. If I’m spending that kind of money it’s going towards a 6800GT. I already have a 60 and a 40gig hdd, but currently running a Ti4600.

That drive isn't all that as far as speed is concerned anyways. link (http://storagereview.com/php/benchmark/compare_rtg_2001.php?typeID=10&testbedID=3&osID=4&raidconfigID=1&numDrives=1&devID_0=259&devID_1=249&devID_2=265&devID_3=262&devCnt=4)
If you don't care for size, but want speed get this (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=22-144-160&DEPA=1) :t

Nice link gene. That drives not that quick by any means. Kinda reminds me of the P4EE. “Lets just double the cache on it, it’ll be way quicker.”

I second the Raptors....if size isn't as important as speed.
Love both mine..."little brothers"...and...that 5 year warranty sure is nice...

I've heard that cache on drives is becoming less relevant in terms of speed lately....any opinions?

I may be way off here...but, I think with the larger cache on CPUs now a days...they're able to cache more data, not to mention RAM and CPUs overall are so much faster.
2MB to 8MB cache is a nice jump...but, not sure about after that...
I think interface (IDE, SATA or SCSI) and rotational speed make more of a difference, now....
