Does anyone know how to bring back my Windows Xp login screen every time I boot up ??
After I installed the microsoft .net framework service pack my computer just boots directly skipping the login screen ...
It might be because I dont have a set password on the login screen but I never needed one for it to show up before ... I just like haveing the login screen as somthing like a 2nd wallpaper

Start \ settings \ control panel \ user accounts \ pick a task \ change the way users log on or off
Now check "use the welcome screen"

Funny, 1.1 actually forced a screen on me as well (now that I think about when it showed up) and I didn't even have a startup screen to select a profile from before. I removed .net and it is still there. No biggie as I can get into windows, I just now have to double-click once. Ouch. :)

My system will not show the welcome screen unless I have more than 1 user allowed to Login. I have never set up Administrator to show on the welcome screen in Normal Mode and Guest is disabled. If I change either of them to allow login, the welcome screen appears. - UNLESS I put a password on my primary account then the welcome screen always shows up.
Maybe you have an auto login setup in Tweak UI or only have one user. Set a password or create another user.....

run control userpasswords2
either check or uncheck the "users must enter a username....." and see if that works for you.

what do you mean "how do you turn safe mode off?"
most people want to get rid of the welcome screen, but you want to see it. hmmm. why don't you just use a password in that case? if you're going through the trouble to see the screen, add a little security too.
I've never had that screen stay up when I have only one user on the computer w/o a password.
Just add a second account, like the guest one that's already there.
